Interesting article, thank you! As per usual, your writing is too far over my head for me to comment in any significant way but your article was stimulating.

This article is great and this quote really demonstrates the absurdity of what we now consider "normal" in society.

"Zizek sees this best in the example of Caffeine free Diet Coke: it lacks everything that makes “Coke” “Coke” but it is the pure semblance of Coke, “an artificial promise of a substance which never [materializes]” (Zizek, The Fragile Absolute, 22). The fetish is not just a simulation of a simulation (what Baudrillard calls a simulacra) but it is also devoid of the “original” object: it is the nothingness itself."

It's a very important topic and it's really a scandal of society where we are basically rejecting the wonderful gifts that God has given us in nature and instead we, as a society, promote adulterated, distorted things and concepts, of our own device and insult God in claiming the ridiculous notion that we have somehow improved on God's creation.

The only remedy, or I guess "rebellion" against the modern culture, is to embrace God's creation as he intended it to be and too seek and discover his awesome creation in all "natural" areas of our life. Gardening is a philosophical statement to embrace food as God created it and ditto for breastfeeding. It is still possible to seek a more agrarian lifestyle that reconnects us with reality.
